• In January, an American writer and artist stays in Nervi • wife of Oscar Wilde (1858–1898), stays in 1897 at the Hotel Nervi before moving to Villa Elvira in Bogliasco and dying in Genoa on 7.4.1898 • Anna Adler purchases from Count Emanuele Gnecco a plot of land near the Burgi boarding house where the following year the (later Hotel Savoia) will open • The volume "Nervi et ses environs" is published with great success in the Raynaud Guide series, and in the following years it will become the most used guide by foreigners in Nervi • "The Rivieras" by Augustus J. C.
