• In 1909, the Russian doctor Dr. Salmanoff attempted to open a sanatorium for tuberculosis patients in the former Villa Raffo, which he apparently had purchased. The reaction of the local authorities, supported by the population, to the planned sanatorium forced him to move to Nervi, where he practiced in various clinics. This would have dealt a fatal blow to Bogliasco's reputation as a tourist resort. In 1909, together with Dr. Victor Mandelberg and journalist Boris H. Neklidov, he founded a "Relief Society for Russian Refugees" that would carry out cultural activities and also hold conferences at the Grand Hotel Eden (14.4.1911) "For poor Russians".
