The organizational effort was enormous, as can easily be understood from the newspapers of the time:

According to the directors of UITE (formerly AMT), it was reported: "for five consecutive hours, one car every thirty seconds, carrying an average of ninety people" plus the morning trams. A movement never seen before: hundreds of trams on the rails of line “32”. Vans, trucks of all kinds, carts, bicycles and other means of transport contributed to carrying people towards the great festival of Nervi

A procession of boats was arranged from Voltri, Prà, Pegli and Sestri Ponente to reach Nervi more comfortably

"How many Genoese, then, went to the Nervi park on Sunday for the FESTA DELL'UNITÀ and the P.C.I.? It is impossible to count the endless stream of people who poured into the park from the morning and seemed never to stop. We turned to the management of U.I.T.E. (formerly AMT, ed.) for precise information: 'We ran a vehicle every thirty seconds for five consecutive hours, with an average of ninety people on board (the calculation is simple: over one hundred thousand people), plus the trams of the morning.' Add the boats, the trucks, the carts: and above all the trains, the buses, the bicycles from the Riviera di Ponente, Sori and Chiavari: not to mention the lucky ones from Bogliasco and Nervi who were already on site: it can be estimated that 150,000 Genoese attended the Festa dell'Unità, then. An immense movement: hundreds of trams on the rails of line '32', so much so that in the early afternoon the power supply was insufficient and there were those who took four hours to go from Voltri to Nervi. This festival was truly what it was meant to be: a great people's festival, a day of serenity and joy for the entire Genoese population." (excerpt from l'Unità, 16 September 1946)
