That country of Nervi, which seen from a distance at sea recalls the enchanted dwellings of Falerina and Armida, presents within nothing but perpetual boundary walls or houses of little appearance next to some painted palace. Whoever does not own or rent a villa cannot even find a place to rest for the night, and it is truly necessary that hunger be carried in the stomach if one can resign oneself to the food served in the only and shabby tavern. The main road, made to descend to the shore and beautifully laid along it, would, I believe, work a magical transformation in the appearance of Nervi. It would perhaps bring with it a clean inn. And then frankly I could tell you: “Do you want to laugh at winter, and enjoy April in January?
