On Tuesday 17 April 2012, on the occasion of the completion of the long-awaited restoration, in the presence of Mayor Marta Vincenzi and Mrs. Giuseppina Viacava, the Rose Garden in the Nervi Parks was dedicated to Luigi Viacava, the late director of the Gardens and Forests Service of the City of Genoa, who conceived and created the Rose Garden itself.

Finally, something new can be seen in the Nervi Parks after many years of inertia and neglect. Thanks to the funds from the former Colombiadi allocated to Genoa's historic parks, of which €3,900,000 has been assigned to the Nervi Parks, a first tranche was used to restore the historic Rose Garden. The new layout includes a series of flower beds where more than a thousand roses have been planted, differentiated according to their hybridizers. These pleasantly sinuous flower beds have been created on a bed of volcanic lapillus to prevent the growth of weeds. The spaces between the flower beds have been prepared for the use of lawnmowers, and the electrical wires have been buried to protect and simplify lighting in case of events. For next October, it is planned to resume the prestigious Genoa Prize reserved for the "Re-blooming Rose", originally conceived specifically for Genoa and which had enjoyed great international success. Next objective: the renovation of the Consul's House and the so-called "palestrine" on the seaward side of Villa Grimaldi.
