S. Rocco The hill of S. Rocco, proceeding eastward, precedes the more famous Sant’Ilario, from which it could once be reached via an easy footpath always in sight of the sea. On the square of S. Rocco stands a charming chapel, a meeting point for hikers climbing to the summit of Monte Corona, from where a splendid panorama can be enjoyed. S. Rocco, until 2007 accessible only on foot, is one of those very quiet and romantic places that are now very hard to find near large cities. Unfortunately, during 2007 a road was built connecting it to Sant’Ilario, making it easier for the few local residents but transforming the romantic little square in front of the chapel into an unauthorized parking area. For this reason, you can only see images from before the current situation, which certainly has its specific causes.
